What are the key benefits of TOPCon technology?

TOPCon technology is the result of the development of N-type cells, in the case of which significant modifications were made, taking into account, among others, the construction of the contacts. First of all, additional layers of silicon oxide and polycrystalline silicon were added. As a result, the internal resistance was reduced and energy losses were limited.

The latest TOPCon modules from SmartSun Energy guarantee very high efficiency (up to 22.84%), as well as increased potential for generating additional energy yield from the rear part of the module. As a result, the bifacial coefficient can reach up to 85-90%, which will translate into a total increase in maximum power in the range of 10 to 30% depending on the substrate.

However, the TOPCon cell is not only higher efficiency, but also a lower degradation coefficient, resulting in a more favorable course of the linear efficiency guarantee graph. The reason for this state of affairs should be sought in the increased resistance to PID/LID phenomena and the reduction of the temperature coefficient, which is a natural effect of the technological advantages of TOPCon cells. The module therefore operates longer, more reliably and in a wider temperature range.

New, more durable 6061 aluminum alloy frame

SmartSun Energy has also decided to use a modified frame design in its TOPCon products, made of 6061 aluminum alloy. This has resulted in two benefits. On the one hand, the module has significantly increased in strength. The latest tests carried out by the German certification body TÜV Nord have shown that SmartSun Energy modules are resistant to extreme pressures of up to 10,000 Pa. On the other hand, it should be noted that the use of 6061 aluminum alloy also improves the anti-corrosion properties of the photovoltaic panel.
